About Me

Ko Zoe tōku ingoa.

I am the sole operator of Murihiku Dreads. I live in Seaward Bush with my whānau on our 6-acre farmlet, where life is always busy and fulfilling. As a mother of two and whāngai to a few, I understand the value of connection and community—something I bring into my mahi. I enjoy getting to know my clients and hearing their stories, making each appointment a unique experience. Alongside my business, I am studying at teachers' college and am passionate about Te Ao Māori. When I’m not working or studying, I spend  time at the beach with my whānau. One day, I hope to create a thriving vegetable garden and fruit orchard, but for now, I’m embracing my journey as it unfolds.

Murihiku Dreads was established in 2019 to provide a local, high-quality service for dreadlock creation, maintenance, and repair. The idea was born out of a need—traveling from Invercargill to Christchurch for dreadlocks came with significant costs, from transport to accommodation. Recognising this gap, Murihiku Dreads was created during the 2019 covid pandemic to offer an accessible and professional service in Murihiku/Southland. What began as a small operation has grown into a trusted name, with over 70 regular clients across Murihiku. More than just hair, this mahi is about connection—each set of dreads carries its own story, and every client brings a unique journey. Murihiku Dreads is committed to quality, authenticity, and whakawhanaungatanga, ensuring every client leaves feeling confident and well cared for.
